Starting with the 11th of November 2013, NBR will introduce a set of coins in the numismatic circuit, dedicated to the 200 years celebration since the School of Engineering was established at Iasi by Gheorghe Asachi (nowadays, the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi).
The coins set will comprise the Romanian coins already circulating – 1ban ( cent), 5 bani (cents), 10 bani (cents), 50 bani (cents) and the commemorative coins of 50bani (cents) (Aurel Vlaicu, Mircea the Elder and Neagoe Basarab), as well as a silver medal.
On the obverse (front) of the coin, the NBR will render the statue of Gheorghe Asachi from Iasi, the inscriptions “Gheorghe Asachi”, “1813” – the year of the celebrated event – ,and in circular arc, the text “200 years since establishing the School of Engineering in Iasi”. On the reverse an image depicting part of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University Hall will be rendered, as well as the emblem of the university and the inscription in arc “of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi” and the issuing year “2013”.
This numismatic edition will number 1000 sets. The acquisition price for a coin set is of 230 RON, plus taxes. The issuing in the numismatic circuit of the coins set is carried out by the NBR regional branches in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timis.
