From October 14 to 19, 2024, the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași (TUIASI) will host the INGENIUM Sustainability Week, an event dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. Under the motto “Every step counts,” the event aims to demonstrate that every gesture and action can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
Be green, be…super green!
Connect – share – learn is the motto of the Ingenium European Universities Alliance – ten institutions of higher education from ten European countries that seek to offer high-quality study and qualification programmes with digital components and to promote intercultural competence among teachers and students.
Sustainability Week is directly linked with Sustainability Day, celebrated at the European level every last Wednesday from October. This year, the Ingenium Alliance and TUIASI also celebrate Sustainability in universities through a series of online and onsite events.
TUIASI is strongly engaged in achieving sustainability at any level involving academic and administrative staff, teachers, and students; thus, it can be mentioned that TUIASI has several interconnected and multidisciplinary projects dedicated to Sustainable development goals such as: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities, promoting sustainable economic growth and a decent work environment for all, fostering healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages, developing resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive engineering, and supporting innovation.
Over 150 TUIASI students have volunteered for the INGENIUM Sustainability Week, making it an opportunity to explore new solutions for a greener future and take concrete steps towards building a sustainable community. Through the proposed events, each participant will discover how they can contribute to a positive environmental impact and how even the smallest actions can be transformed into significant gestures for a sustainable future.

During Sustainability Week, various activities will take place, encouraging the direct involvement of students and professors in sustainability initiatives. Through interactive sessions, hands-on workshops, presentations, and discussions on current topics, as well as outdoor activities, participants will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of this concept, how it applies in different fields, and how each individual can contribute to achieving sustainable development goals in everyday life.
